Festival of India provides a platform for artists to showcase their artwork done in different mediums. Our purpose is to encourage, enhance and promote art through local talent residing in Charlotte.

We welcome beginning and experienced artists of any age, skill level and medium. A special section is dedicated to young artists to showcase their work

The Festival of India provides a vibrant platform for creative individuals. Each year, artists and crafters come together during the festival to showcase their talent through unique and captivating pieces of artwork. A new theme is introduced, adding fresh inspiration to the exhibition.

The Visual Art Gallery at the Festival of India has flourished into a vibrant hub, uniting artists and art lovers. Showcasing Indian art, it fosters community, connection, and creative celebration. People from diverse backgrounds gather to experience and engage with this artistic celebration. The gallery welcomes and encourages artists from different cultural
heritages to participate, making it a true testament to the unifying power of art. By inspiring creativity and celebrating cultural diversity, the Visual Art Gallery continues to strengthen and expand this ever-growing artistic community.

Rules & Guidelines

Theme: Folk Fusion

This visual art exhibit celebrates the vibrant soul of Indian Folk Art, reimagined through a contemporary, multicultural lens. Rooted in tradition yet open to global influences, the collection brings together artists and creative voices who explore the beauty of cultural fusion through color, texture, and storytelling.

A special focus of this exhibition is recycled art, where everyday and discarded materials are transformed into meaningful visual expressions—highlighting sustainability, creativity, and conscious artmaking. Each piece reflects how tradition can evolve while honoring its origins.

Featured Artists

We are proud to introduce the Featured Artist Segment as part of our Visual Art Gallery! This exclusive initiative provides artists with a distinguished opportunity to professionally showcase their artwork and gain visibility among thousands of event attendees.

A total of 12 artists will be selected as Featured Artists based on the submitted artwork and the evaluation and recommendations of the judging panel. The judging panel will consist of distinguished professionals representing diverse areas of the art and design community, including members from interior design associations and other creative disciplines.

Please review the following guidelines carefully:

1. Mandatory Artwork Registration

All participating artists must register their artwork in advance. Only pre-registered artwork will be approved for exhibition during the event. Artwork must be original and created solely by the artist.

Registration details for Featured Artist participation, including step-by-step instructions, will be provided via email. Kindly reach out to foiclt.art@gmail.com for more information and to proceed with your application.

2. Designated Display Space

Each Featured Artist will receive:

  • Two grid panels to display artwork within the indoor gallery
  • An opportunity to showcase two signature or masterpiece artworks outdoors in the designated gallery tent space

3. Customized Display Presentation

Artists are encouraged to create a professional, creative, and visually appealing display.

Suggested presentation elements include:

  • Artist biography or introduction
  • Name banner
  • Personal branding materials
  • Artwork titles and descriptions
  • QR codes for artwork details
  • QR-linked pricing information

These additions will help visitors connect more deeply with the artist and better appreciate theinspiration and story behind each piece.

4. Artwork Sales Guidelines

Artists may offer artwork for sale during the event under the following conditions:

  • Cash transactions are not permitted inside the Belk building.
  • Advanced online payments are allowed.
  • All displayed artwork must remain on exhibit for the full duration of the event.
  • Purchased artwork may only be released to buyers after the conclusion of the event.
  • During any sales discussions or transactions, artists are requested to keep visual art gallery lead (Vaishali Awale) informed and included in communications to ensure smooth coordination and compliance with event policies.

5. Artist Participation & Visitor Engagement

  • Artists are encouraged to spend time near their display area or tent to engage with visitors, answer questions, and share insights into their artistic journey and creative process.
  • This event offers a valuable opportunity to increase visibility, build meaningful community connections, and showcase artistic talent to a broad and diverse audience.

Guidelines

  • Please complete a separate registration for each art piece.
  • Participants aged 18 and above may register to submit up to two art pieces, while those below 18 may submit one art piece.
  • Registrations for participants under 18 years must be completed by a parent or guardian.
  • Fields marked with an * are mandatory.
  • Artwork Guidelines:
    You can showcase 2D or 3D artwork in any medium and on any surface
    • 3D Artwork:
      • It should be displayed on a grid or table.
      • Preferably small and light weighted pieces.
      • Size limit: 15 x 15 inches, (including the frame)
      • Artists are encouraged to volunteer to help secure pieces during exhibit hours.
    • 2D Artwork:
      • Size limit: 36 x 36 inches, including the frame.
      • All artworks must be properly wired and ready for display in the gallery. If the artwork is on paper, it must be properly framed and wired.
  • Display Guidelines:
    • Each submitted art piece must be handcrafted by the artist and be their own original work.
    • Artwork will be displayed for the entire festival duration.
    • Unsuitable pieces, including artwork on paper without a frame, unwired pieces, unsafe or inappropriate work, off-theme submissions, or those difficult to install, will not be displayed.
    • Placement will be on a first-come, first-served basis due to anticipated participation.
  • Important Notes:
    • The Festival of India is not responsible for any damage or loss of artwork.
    • If a visitor is interested in purchasing your artwork, you will be directly connected with the buyer.
    • Communication will primarily be conducted via email. Please provide an active email address during registration.
  • Volunteer Requirement:
    • Based on visitor feedback, we request artists to volunteer for 2 hours during festival hours.
    • Volunteers will help explain their artwork, answer questions, and guide visitors through the gallery.
